Tuesday Night at the Cafe: A Poem

Blacksburg’s not so bleak in May,
though many say the winter lingers into June.
This year the dogwood and the lilacs bloom,
covering neglected meadows like reconciling tears;
songs of praise and sunlight fill the fields,
horses dance in a rain of blossoms as we break bread
and Mozart’s Requiem echos through the trees.
